Instagram Unveils Updates: Longer Reels, Rectangular Grids, and a Powerful New Video Editing App
Instagram introduces longer Reels, redesigned profile grids, and a new video editing app, "Edits," to enhance content creation and user engagement. These updates reflect the platform's commitment to addressing user feedback and evolving preferences.

Instagram has released various upgrades to improve the user experience, including longer Reels, profile grid modifications, and a new video editing app called "Edits." These modifications are intended to address user feedback and improve content development and interaction.
Extended Reels Duration: Instagram Reels can now last up to three minutes, a major increase from the former 90-second limit. According to Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, this move is designed to help creators publish longer, more interesting videos without sacrificing quality.
Profile Grid Redesign: Instagram has updated profile grids to better reflect the platform's concentration on vertical content. Grids will now display photographs and videos in rectangles rather than squares. Mosseri noted that this adjustment guarantees that uploads are displayed correctly, resulting in a more visually appealing and accurate depiction of user data.
New Reels Section: A dedicated section on the Reels page will now display videos that have been liked by friends. This tool, which is presently being rolled out in certain regions, aims to increase engagement by allowing users to see and interact with material that their friends appreciate.
Introducing: "Edits": Instagram has also introduced "Edits," a stand-alone video editing program. This program provides extensive tools for creators, including inspiration tracking, high-quality video editing, and collaboration options. Users can also learn about video performance on Instagram. While the software is not yet available for Android, it is available for pre-registration in the Apple software Store and is set to launch on March 13.
These adjustments reflect Instagram's ongoing efforts to empower artists while increasing user engagement and content visibility.
