Latest Instagram Update Adds Reposts Tab, Live Map, and Friends Tab for More Sharing and Social Interaction
Instagram’s latest update introduces three features like Reposts Tab, Live Map, and Friends Tab in Reels designed to make sharing easier, boost social interaction, and help users stay more connected with friends and favorite creators.

A new update has been released by Instagram, which includes three new features that boost the social, connected, and engaging experience of the app. The primary objective of these updates is to facilitate the sharing of content that you find enjoyable, identifying of your friends' interests, and the identification of the locations which your preferred creators are posting from.
Instagram adds Reposts tab that makes sharing content much easier. Public Reels and feed posts can be directly shared to your profile without messing up your primary grid. Your followers may also see your reposts in their feeds, and that posts will be displayed in a new Reposts tab. Sharing is as simple as tapping the repost icon and, if desired, adding a brief note. The original creator always gets full credit, and your repost can help their content reach a wider audience.
One more update is the Live Map, which shows you in real time where your friends and favorite creators are posting. Location sharing is turned off by default, which is like Snap Map but gives you more control over your privacy. Everyone, close friends, a small group of people you choose, or no one at all can see where you are. You can even stop people from sharing your location in some places. The map is at the top of your direct message inbox. It's only available in the US right now, but it will soon be available everywhere.
There is also the Friends Tab in Reels, which makes the Reels part of Instagram more personal. It shows you what Reels your friends have liked, commented on, or shared. The feature also uses “Blends,” a system that recommends videos based on shared interests between you and your friends. If you prefer more privacy, you can hide your activity or mute updates from certain friends.
These adjustments are part of Instagram's efforts to become more than just a photo-sharing app. The idea is to create a platform where you can stay up to date on what your friends are viewing, enjoying, and doing in real life. Whether you're constantly scrolling through Reels or just checking in on Instagram, these new features aim to make the platform feel more personal and connected than ever.
