YouTube Enhances Auto-Dubbing With Expressive Speech and More Language Controls
YouTube expands its AI auto-dubbing feature to all users, enabling video translation in 27 languages with natural-sounding voices, improved language controls, and better accessibility for global audiences.
YouTube has announced a significant boost to its AI-powered auto-dubbing feature, making it accessible to all users on the platform. This tool allows viewers to comprehend videos in multiple languages by automatically translating and dubbing spoken information. Previously, auto-dubbing was confined to specific videos, but it is now available for all non-music videos across all channels.
The auto-dubbing feature was first tested in 2023 before being expanded to instructional and informational content in 2024. With the most recent version, YouTube claims that the tool now supports 27 languages, allowing producers to access a larger worldwide audience. Viewers can watch videos uploaded in several languages in their preferred language without requiring any additional steps.
YouTube stated that the feature has already been widely used. In December 2025, over six million daily viewers viewed at least ten minutes of auto-dubbed video. To enhance the experience further, the platform is now introducing more natural-sounding dubbed voices that are less robotic.
As part of this upgrade, YouTube now supports Expressive Speech in eight languages: English, Hindi, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Indonesian. This ensures that the dubbed audio captures the creator's original emotion and tone, making the videos more engaging. YouTube has also included a Preferred Language option, which gives users additional choice. This allows viewers to select their preferred language or disable auto-dubbing entirely, which is beneficial for multilingual users who prefer original audio.
Additionally, YouTube is testing a lip-sync feature that matches mouth movements with translated audio for a more natural look. The platform also confirmed that videos like music content or silent vlogs will not be auto-dubbed automatically. Overall, YouTube’s expanded auto-dubbing feature is a big step toward breaking language barriers on the platform. It helps creators reach global audiences and makes content easier to understand for viewers everywhere. With better voice quality and more control options, the viewing experience is set to improve further.
