Biwin Mini SSD Brings Ultra-Fast NVMe Storage, Aiming to Redefine Removable Storage for Compact Devices

Biwin introduces Mini SSD CL100, a tiny NVMe storage solution offering ultra-fast speeds, high durability and removable design, positioning it as a powerful microSD alternative for gaming handhelds, portable devices and next-gen consumer storage.

Biwin Mini SSD Brings Ultra-Fast NVMe Storage, Aiming to Redefine Removable Storage for Compact Devices

Biwin has taken a bold step into the consumer storage market with its new Mini SSD, a tiny NVMe-based storage format designed for fast, removable data storage in very small devices. The new Mini SSD, called the CL100, is much smaller than traditional SSDs and even smaller than an M.2 2230 drive, while offering far better performance than microSD cards.

The Biwin CL100 Mini SSD weighs about one gram and has dimensions of only 15 x 17 x 1.4 mm. It is simple to insert or remove because it slides into a SIM tray-style slot rather than a traditional connector. It offers read and write speeds of up to 3700 MB/s and 3400 MB/s, respectively, and supports PCIe 4.0 and NVMe technologies despite its small size. Because of this, it can be used for demanding tasks like video editing, gaming, and quick data transfer.

Biwin says the Mini SSD is also built for durability. It is waterproof, dustproof and can survive drops of up to three meters. The drive is available in 512GB, 1TB and 2TB options, making it a serious alternative to microSD cards for users who need more speed and reliability.

Biwin has also released the RD510 USB enclosure to expand its application beyond portable electronic devices. The Mini SSD may be used with laptops, tablets, and even cameras due to this USB4 casing, which transforms it into a fast portable external drive. During extended use, a tiny integrated fan helps in controlling the temperature.
The Mini SSD format has already appeared in some gaming handhelds, where users can swap storage using a simple tray mechanism. Once removed, the card behaves like a regular internal SSD, just in a much smaller form factor.

The Mini SSD format's future is still up in the air, though. Storage standards are typically only successful when they are embraced by several manufacturers. Because MicroSD was made available to a larger industry, it gained popularity. Biwin has not yet stated whether it intends to create an open standard for the Mini SSD format.

Without support from other companies or industry groups, the Mini SSD risks remaining a niche product. Still, its combination of high speed, compact size and removable design makes it very attractive. If Biwin opens the format and gains wider backing, Mini SSDs could become the next big step in consumer and portable storage technology.
