Express More with WhatsApp’s Latest Status Tools: Photo Collages, Music Updates, and Interactive Stickers
WhatsApp introduces creative Status features like layouts, music, photo stickers, and “Add Yours” prompts to enhance user expression and engagement across its platform.

WhatsApp, the world's most popular messaging app, has just made status updates more expressive and engaging. On May 30, the platform introduced a number of new features aimed at helping users illustrate memories in more creative and personalized ways.
Status on WhatsApp has always been a place for users to share photographs, videos, and messages with their close friends.Whether it's a birthday party, a holiday, or an unplanned candid moment, the new updates aim to bring depth and originality to those short 24-hour stories.
Here's a quick overview of what's new:
- Layouts: This new tool lets you combine up to six photographs into a single collage-style frame. The feature is ideal for a daily summary or event highlights, as it includes simple editing capabilities for arranging and styling photographs as desired.
- Music Status: Users can now make a song the centrepiece of their update.Whether it's a song that makes you happy or expresses your mood, music statuses allow you to share it directly or use it as a background with music stickers.
- Photo Stickers: Users may now turn their images into stickers and use them in their Status updates. These stickers may be resized, reshaped, and moved around to bring a fun, personal touch to each post.
- Add your own prompts: Want to start a conversation or ask your friends to give their thoughts on a topic? The new "Add Yours" sticker allows you to do exactly that. Friends can respond to your prompt by posting their own status, resulting in a chain of shared moments.
WhatsApp said that these functionalities will be gradually rolled out to all users over the coming months.
India, which has the highest WhatsApp user base (approximately 596 million monthly active users as of 2024), is expected to embrace these features eagerly. WhatsApp has become a communication mainstay across the country, due to its support for various Indian languages and user-friendly interface—it is used not only for personal chats but also by businesses and even for digital payments via WhatsApp Pay.
These fresh features represent yet another step in WhatsApp's transformation from a messaging app to a more dynamic and expressive social platform.
