WhatsApp Tests Instagram Profile Linking for iOS Users, Offering New Privacy Controls
WhatsApp is testing a feature allowing users to link Instagram profiles, enhancing cross-platform connectivity with privacy controls.

WhatsApp is apparently working on a new feature that would enable iOS users to connect their Instagram profiles to their WhatsApp accounts. WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo found the function, which is now under beta testing and only available to a restricted number of users.
The functionality, discovered in WhatsApp Beta for iOS version 25.7.10.70, allows users to show Instagram profile links alongside their WhatsApp profile photo and name, making it easier for contacts to interact across Meta-owned services. Users can also choose who can see their linked Instagram account, with privacy settings such as 'Everyone,' 'My contacts,' 'My contacts except,' and 'Nobody.'
This functionality will remain optional, allowing users to decide whether or not to link their accounts. For the time being, Instagram is the only supported platform, although it is possible that WhatsApp will eventually integrate with other Meta-owned platforms such as Facebook and Threads.
Currently, the feature is being evaluated via Apple's TestFlight beta program and is not widely available. However, WABetaInfo says that it may soon be made available to more beta testers before a wider release. This move is another step in Meta's efforts to improve cross-platform communication throughout its ecosystem.
