New WhatsApp Feature Blocks Media Saving and Chat Export for Enhanced Privacy Control
WhatsApp's new Advanced Chat Privacy feature adds extra protection by blocking chat exports, media downloads, and AI usage, enhancing message security across conversations.

WhatsApp recently introduced a new option called Advanced Chat Privacy, which gives users additional control over their private conversations. This update improves the security of both one-on-one and group chats by going beyond the existing end-to-end encryption.
The feature is currently available to iOS and Android users, and it is intended to prevent people from exporting chats or saving media shared in conversations. It also prohibits automatic media downloads and limits the usage of shared messages in Meta's AI technologies, hence keeping conversations more private.
This upgrade is especially helpful in group chats where users may not know each other well but want to keep their conversations private. According to WhatsApp, the new privacy setting ensures that sensitive information remains within the chat and is not easily shared outside of the network.
Once turned on, Advanced Chat Privacy prevents users from exporting messages or saving media. Users in the chat will not be able to immediately download the photographs or videos, providing an additional layer of security for shared content.
To enable the function, open any chat, press the name at the top, and then choose Advanced Chat Privacy. To see this option, ensure that your WhatsApp is updated to the newest version.
WhatsApp has indicated that this is only the beginning, and that the feature will be enhanced over time. It enhances existing technologies such as vanishing messages, chat locks, and encryption to provide users with a more secure messaging experience.
