WhatsApp Android Beta Update Adds Status Updates to Chats Tab for Faster Access
WhatsApp is testing a new Android beta update (version 2.26.6.9) that brings Status updates directly to the Chats tab. The feature aims to improve WhatsApp user experience with faster and easier status viewing.
WhatsApp is once again working on a new upgrade to enhance the user experience. The popular instant messaging app is now testing a new feature in its latest Android beta release, version 2.26.6.9. This new feature may alter the way users check WhatsApp Status updates on their mobile devices.
Right now, to see someone's status, go to the Status page and tap on the profile icons with the green ring. However, with the most recent WhatsApp beta upgrade, the company is testing a smarter layout that displays status updates directly in the Chats tab. This means that users may no longer have to switch tabs to see changes.
In the beta version, status updates from your most commonly contacted persons may appear at the top of your chat screen. When you open WhatsApp, you'll see a horizontal strip with the most recent status updates. You can simply swipe through them, as you would normally in the Status section. This makes checking for updates faster and more convenient. The best part is that your privacy settings remain intact. If you have muted or hidden someone's status, their changes will not be shown in the new top area. WhatsApp appears to be focusing on increasing usability rather than modifying personal control settings.
This functionality is currently only available to select Android beta testers running version 2.26.6.9. It is still being tested, and WhatsApp may make modifications before its official release. Most users will not have seen this update yet.
The purpose of this new feature is straightforward, to make viewing WhatsApp Status faster and smoother. Because millions of individuals use WhatsApp on a regular basis for both business and personal communication, minor enhancements like these can have a significant impact. If testing goes well, WhatsApp may soon offer this feature to all users worldwide. For the time being, Android users should keep a watch out for future WhatsApp update announcements on the official release.
