Trump Delays TikTok Ban: Trump Grants 75-Day Reprieve Amid National Security Concerns
President Trump delayed the TikTok ban by 75 days, allowing time for national security concerns and ownership restructuring to be addressed.

Donald Trump, the 47th President of the United States, signed an executive order suspending the TikTok ban for 75 days, providing the app with temporary relief. The decision gives TikTok until April 6, 2025 to review its operations and find a long-term solution to continue providing services in the US.
The executive order, issued under the Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act (PAFACA), directs federal agencies to find a solution to keep TikTok operational while addressing national security issues. President Trump stressed the importance of a balanced approach, saying the postponement was necessary to "protect national security while avoiding an abrupt shutdown of a communications platform used by millions of Americans."
This action comes after TikTok experienced a volatile period in which it was banned and then unbanned in less than 24 hours. During a victory speech, Trump declared the service's rebirth but required TikTok's parent firm, ByteDance, to sell 50% of its ownership to a US business in order for the app to be permanently available in the country.
TikTok has come under fire amid suspicions that ByteDance interacts with the Chinese government, potentially exposing US user data. While TikTok services continue to operate, the app's long-term future remains questionable. Key concerns remain unresolved, including possible buyers and the actions necessary to assure compliance with US regulations. TikTok currently has a 75-day timeframe to choose its next steps.
