Securing India’s Digital Ecosystem: VeeamON 2025 Showcases Data Resilience and Cybersecurity Strategies

The India leg of the VeeamON 2025 Tour, which focused on data resilience and cybersecurity, was recently hosted in New Delhi. The event brought together industry leaders, government officials, and innovators to discuss about how India can strengthen its digital defenses against emerging cyberthreats.

Veeam highlighted its India-focused whitepaper, "Strategies to Counter the Ransomware Threat in India," as well as the "Veeam Data Resilience Maturity Model" (DRMM) at the event. This approach is intended to assist Indian companies in assessing their current resilience levels and improving their ability to safeguard and recover data.

The discussions focused on data resilience, AI-powered security, and regulatory planning, particularly in regard to India's Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act and upcoming Digital India Act. Key findings from Veeam's study demonstrate that ransomware remains the most serious threat to Indian organizations. Almost 70% of firms experienced numerous ransomware attacks in a single year, and 90% reported trying to compromise backups. The document also highlighted tactics for compliance with India's digital regulations and provided actionable measures to prepare for ransomware attacks.

It also emphasized the Bharat CyberSuraksha - Saksham Bharat initiative, which is a three-year campaign to strengthen India's cyber resilience. The goal includes training over 1,000,000 professionals in data protection and AI-driven cybersecurity, establishing 100+ Centers of Excellence, and creating 25,000+ new cybersecurity and DevSecOps positions.

Veeam's vision includes the "6 Ps" of a cyber-resilient India. That are  partnerships, people, platforms, policy, progress, and purpose. These fundamentals prioritize collaboration, empowering talent, delivering secure platforms, sticking to policy, tracking progress, and protecting data as an important company asset. At the event, Sandeep Bhambure, Vice President & MD, India & SAARC at Veeam, stated that India's digital future is dependent on "radical resilience." He pointed out that good data protection not only protects business continuity, but also encourages AI innovation, regulatory compliance, and long-term competitiveness, making it an essential basis for long-term growth and a secure digital ecosystem.

The VeeamON 2025 event in Delhi emphasized India's urgent need for improved data resilience. Ransomware threats continue to increase, making cybersecurity and professional talent more important than ever. With the appropriate strategies, collaborations, and frameworks, Indian organizations may safeguard their digital future and achieve long-term success.
