Cyber Security Report Flags India as Top Cyberattack Target, Highlighting Urgent Need for Smarter Digital Protection

According to the latest report released by Swiss cybersecurity firm Acronis, India has surpassed Brazil and Spain as the most targeted country in the world for cyberattacks.Studies highlight a concerning trend in the country's digital environment, which is experiencing an increase in malware infections and advanced online scams.

According to the Acronis Cyberthreats Report for the first half of 2025, India had the highest number of malware detections on Windows devices globally. In May this year, 12.4% of Windows systems in India were infected by malware. In June, the figure rose even higher, at 13.2%. malware, which is often known as malicious software, is intended to enter into systems or networks without authorization, disrupt operations, or steal data.

According to the report, India's digital world is experiencing a "perfect storm" of threats.
