ReNew Energy Partners With Google to Develop Large Solar Power Project in Rajasthan to Support Clean Energy Goals

ReNew Energy Global has inked a long-term renewable power agreement with Google to build a huge solar project in Rajasthan, marking another significant step forward for India's clean energy efforts. The latest deal demonstrates how global IT corporations are increasingly investing in renewable energy to power their expanding digital infrastructure.

ReNew Energy Global will build a 150-megawatt solar power project in Rajasthan, western India, as part of this deal. The project is planned to be completed by 2026 and would provide renewable electricity to Google's operations in India. This decision aligns with Google's global objective of running totally on carbon-free electricity by 2030.

Once completed, the solar project is expected to produce around 425,000 megawatt hours of renewable electricity per year. According to calculations, this is enough to power around 360,000 Indian houses each year, demonstrating the practical significance of huge renewable energy installations. By adding extra solar capacity to the grid, the project will help to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and decrease carbon emissions.

India has been working hard to boost its renewable energy sector. The government intends to achieve 500 gigawatts of non-fossil fuel power capacity by the end of the decade. Partnerships like this one help achieve that goal while also encouraging worldwide investment into India's clean energy economy.

Google is not alone in this transition. Other global IT titans, such as Amazon and Microsoft, are also entering into major renewable energy deals throughout the world to cut emissions from data centres, cloud services, and AI applications, which require massive amounts of electricity.

ReNew Energy Global is one of India's major renewable power generators, having a clean energy portfolio of over 18.5 gigawatts as of early 2025. The company continues to build solar and wind power around the country, assisting India's energy revolution.

This latest deal demonstrates how clean energy, cloud computing, and environmental goals are coming together to make renewable energy an essential component of future digital growth.
