Perplexity Introduces Comet AI Browser for Indian Pro Subscribers, Offering Smart Task Automation and Workspace Management

Perplexity AI has announced that Comet, its new AI-powered browser, is now accessible to Pro subscribers in India. CEO Aravind Srinivas revealed the announcement in a post on X. Comet is currently available for Mac and Windows, with Android users able to pre-order it through the Google Play Store. However, there is currently no official release date for Android.

Comet was launched in July 2025 and is based on Perplexity's custom AI search engine. The company claims it is intended for people who rely extensively on the internet for work, research, and everyday tasks. Unlike standard browsers like Chrome or Edge, Comet aims to provide a more intelligent, custom surfing experience.

One of its standout features is the Comet Assistant, an AI assistant that can assist with daily tasks. It can manage tabs, summarize emails, track calendar events, and even explore websites for you. Instead of the typical tabbed interface, Comet offers a workspace in which all relevant information is neatly organized. This allows consumers to focus on what's most important.

Another fascinating feature is the AI sidebar, which functions as a personal assistant. Users can use simple language commands to ask it to buy things, schedule meetings, or even convert a website into an email and send it.The browser also remembers what you've read and what you're working on, allowing it to recommend relevant content as you navigate. Perplexity additionally stated that more functionality will be added to Comet in the future, establishing it as a potential competitor to standard browsers.

Perplexity’s Comet browser is more than just another browser, it’s built to make online work smarter and easier. With features like Comet Assistant and the AI sidebar, it brings automation into everyday tasks. By organizing workspaces and remembering user activity, it creates a personalized browsing experience. As Comet expands across platforms, it could redefine how people search, browse, and stay productive online.
