BSNL Rolls Out e-SIM Facility with Anti-Spam Protection, Offering Safer and More Convenient Connectivity for Users
BSNL has launched its e-SIM service in Tamil Nadu, with plans for nationwide expansion. The facility offers easy activation, dual-number support, enhanced security, and anti-spam protection, bringing BSNL closer to private telecom competitors.

BSNL, the state-owned telecom company has launched its new e-SIM service, beginning with the Tamil Nadu Circle. The service will soon be expanded to other parts of India, bringing BSNL in line with private operators such as Jio, Airtel, and Vi.
The e-SIM feature enables BSNL users to connect to mobile services without the need for a traditional physical SIM card. Customers can now download their SIM profile by scanning a secure QR code. To complete the process, subscribers must visit a BSNL customer service center for KYC verification.
According to BSNL's Chief Managing Director, Robert J Ravi, this launch demonstrates the company's efforts to provide advanced and secure digital connectivity through the Digital India initiative. He explained that customers will benefit from easy activation and improved security over physical SIM cards.
During this initial phase, the service is available to anyone with an e-SIM-compatible device. Customers simply need to visit a BSNL customer service center with a valid ID, and professionals will guide them through a quick digital verification process.Once completed, they will be given a one-time QR code to download and activate their e-SIM profile. Both new and existing BSNL customers can take advantage of this feature.
Along with the e-SIM launch, BSNL has begun rolling out anti-spam and anti-smishing protection throughout India. Smishing scams frequently use fraudulent text messages to trick people into revealing sensitive information such as passwords or bank account information.
This protection, developed with Tanla Platforms, operates directly at the network level, eliminating the need for customers to install additional apps or change their phone settings. It promotes safer communication and reduces the risks of fraud and identity theft.
With these new steps, BSNL aims to modernize its services, improve security, and provide customers with a more seamless and secure mobile experience.
