OpenAI Rolls Out Image Library for ChatGPT Users to Browse, Reuse, and Modify Generated Pictures Across Platforms

OpenAI has released a new Image Library function for ChatGPT users, allowing them to see, manage, and edit all AI-generated photos in one spot.  This update, which was announced on Wednesday, is available to all users across web, desktop, and mobile platforms, whether they are on the free plan or subscribing to ChatGPT Plus or Pro.

The Image Library provides users with a centralized location to browse, revisit, and reuse images created with GPT-4o's image tool, without having to go through past conversations.  Images created with older models such as DALL·E will not be included.

Users can access it by selecting the Library tab on the left side of the screen.  At the bottom of the library, there is a "Make Image" button that rapidly returns users to the image creation chat.

Tapping or clicking on a picture enlarges it and brings up four main options:

  • Edit: Opens the image in a new conversation for greater changes.
  • Select: Allows users to highlight and modify certain areas of the image using a resizable tool.
  • Save: downloads the image to your device.
  • Sharing:  Sends the image using other apps.

Additional tools, including as Undo, Redo, can help you perfect your adjustments. However, there is presently no method to remove individual photos. To remove one, users must erase the entire chat in which it was made.

This update enhances user ease by making manipulating AI-generated images easier and more intuitive.
