India Strengthens Digital Trust Ecosystem as DigiLocker Becomes Key Platform for Secure Paperless Services

The National Conference on "DigiLocker - Enabling Paperless Access for All" took place in New Delhi this week, bringing together top government officials, technology executives, education experts, and digital governance specialists.The event focused on DigiLocker's growth as one of India's most essential tools for paperless governance, secure digital services, and trusted online identity.
The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology organized the conference, which demonstrated how DigiLocker has evolved from a simple document storage tool to a critical component of the Digital India program. Today, it enables users to securely access, verify, and exchange essential documents such as ID proofs, certifications, and bank information.
MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan described DigiLocker as a "trust layer" that connects citizens to ministries and departments. He highlighted that India's digital journey is progressing from digital connection to a future in which trust and transparency are at the heart of governance. According to him, DigiLocker would assist ensure that every digital interaction is secure and dependable.
Additional Secretary Abhishek Singh referred to this accomplishment as a "Digital Trust Revolution" driven by technology such as DigiLocker. He also discussed the platform's future roadmap, which includes AI-powered eKYC, global credential verification, and more robust digital identity solutions. Several states were honored at the occasion for their excellent contributions to DigiLocker adoption. Assam got the Integration Excellence award, while Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh were recognized for their citizen-centered digital identification projects. Kerala received recognition for its revolutionary paperless governance strategy.
Breakout discussions focused on DigiLocker's expanding position in education, fintech, government services, and value-added solutions. Experts described how the platform supports the National Education Policy 2020, provides certificateless governance, and even allows for PAN-based access to electronic bank guarantees.
