Copilot Disappears from Windows 11 After Latest Update, Microsoft Confirms Issue and Promises Fix
Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 update unintentionally uninstalled the Copilot app from some devices. Microsoft acknowledged the issue and is working on a fix. Meanwhile, users can reinstall Copilot manually. More updates are expected at Microsoft’s 50th anniversary event on April 4.

Microsoft's most recent Windows 11 update has unexpectedly eliminated the Copilot AI assistant from some devices, disappointing users. The problem, which was caused by the March 11 Patch Tuesday update, also removes Copilot from the taskbar, rendering it unreachable. Microsoft confirmed the error in a support post, telling users that a patch is in the works. In the meanwhile, users can manually reinstall Copilot from the Microsoft Store and return it to the taskbar.
The timing of this issue is crucial because Microsoft is now improving Copilot with a new UI and a press-to-talk hotkey, reviving a hands-free interface similar to Cortana in Windows 10. This update comes ahead of Microsoft's 50th anniversary event on April 4, at which AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman is anticipated to unveil new Copilot features.
Additionally, Microsoft is said to be building in-house AI reasoning models, implying increased competition with OpenAI. With AI becoming a significant priority, Microsoft's recent breakthroughs could change the way consumers interact with Windows. However, the sudden uninstallation of Copilot underlines the challenges of software rollouts, raising questions about stability as Microsoft pursues its AI-driven agenda.
