GPT-6 Comes to ChatGPT With Interactive Charts, Custom Tools and Improved Response Speed

OpenAI has begun rolling out GPT-6 to ChatGPT users, bringing changes that go beyond answering questions with text. The update introduces a feature called Intelligent UI, which allows ChatGPT to create interactive screens, charts, diagrams and simple tools directly within a conversation.

Instead of describing everything in words, ChatGPT can choose a more visual way to present information based on the user's question. For example, it could create an interactive diagram to explain a complicated topic or show a side-by-side comparison of different products or services. Users can also ask ChatGPT to build simple tools, such as calculators and bill splitters, that they can use directly in the chat.

OpenAI is also changing how ChatGPT delivers answers. With GPT-6, the chatbot can begin showing a response while it continues working on the task, rather than making users wait until the entire process is complete. The company says this approach can reduce waiting time without sacrificing clarity. During web searches, GPT-6 Instant reportedly started responding 44% sooner on average than GPT-5.6 Instant.

OpenAI also says the new model is better at deciding when a web search is necessary and finding relevant information for more difficult questions.

GPT-6 includes safety improvements designed to recognise potentially harmful requests and resist attempts to bypass its safeguards. Its training addresses risks involving cyberattacks, biological threats and violence. OpenAI also says the model is better at recognising and explaining its limitations. This should help ChatGPT communicate when it lacks enough information or cannot access the tools needed to answer a question properly.

The GPT-6 rollout began globally on October 8 for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users through the Chat tab. Free and Go users are scheduled to receive access from October 9, although Enterprise availability may depend on administrator settings.

Paid plans will use GPT-6 Sol, while Free and Go users will receive GPT-6 Luna. The update applies to the main ChatGPT experience, while the models used for Work and Codex remain unchanged.

Overall, GPT-6 aims to make ChatGPT more than a text-based assistant. With interactive tools, quicker responses and improved safety measures, OpenAI is moving towards an experience where users can not only ask questions but also explore information visually and complete simple tasks directly within a conversation.
