Character.ai Adds ‘Parental Insights’ to Enhance Child Safety and Transparency

Chatbot platform character. AI has introduced a new 'Parental Insights' tool, which allows teenagers to send a weekly report about their chatbot engagement to their parents. This optional feature provides information about usual regular consumption, the most interacted-with characters, and time spent on conversations—without disclosing chat content. The purpose is to address concerns about excessively chatbot engagement and improper content.

Character. AI, which limits users under 13 worldwide and under 16 in Europe, has received controversy and legal concerns for its content. Some cases claim that chatbots have engaged in incorrect or harming discussions, causing concern from Apple, Google, and regulatory bodies.

To address these concerns, Character.AI made numerous changes, including shifting under-18 users to a safer AI model that restricts problematic concepts.  Furthermore, more noticeable disclaimers warn users that chatbots are not real people.

With increased demand for AI regulation and child protection laws, Character. AI's current version will probably to be its final step. The site is evolving as it addresses safety issues while preserving its attractiveness to young users.
